keep watch over my dad
Mason Weld, 12, of Helotes won a national award from the Armed Services YMCA, along with a $500 US savings bond, for a poem he wrote while his father, Air Force Lt. Col. Kyle J. Weld was deployed in Balad, Iraq from May to October of 2008.

West side churches
This is the beginning of a sort of history project I've been working on about 16 churches on the west side which is now a predominantly Latino neighborhood- so much to cover, so little time... more to come.

wildflowers
My parents came for a visit this week and we took a little drive through the hill country. For the first time in a long time, I had time to stop and see the flowers (these didn't smell). I'm gonna start doing a lot more of this.
